ISBN-themed BIC Breakfast takes place
On Wednesday 24 October at the British Library, Book Industry Communication (BIC) held a BIC Breakfast event on the topic of the ISBN. The event was subtitled The ISBN - Best Practice for International Book Identification and discussed important topics for stakeholders across the supply chain about the importance of following the ISBN standard correctly, and the sometimes serious impacts when ISBNs are misused.
Because of the importance and prevalence of ISBN in the supply chain and due to the ever-increasing number of products available internationally, best practice for ISBNs is of fundamental importance. This BIC Breakfast provided an overview of what constitutes good and bad practice in relation to ISBNs.
The event featured a presentation from the Executive Director of the International ISBN Agency, Stella Griffiths, which can be downloaded here. The other speakers were Eleanor Pigg of the UK ISBN Agency, Neil Wilson of the British Library and Kieron Smith of Blackwell’s. The whole set of slides can be downloaded from this link on BIC's own website.
We would like to thank BIC and in particular Alaina-Marie Bassett for giving us the opportunity to participate in this BIC Breakfast. You can visit the homepage of the BIC website by clicking here.
